The Sun in Capricorn & The Four of Disks
Okay… uh… we find ourselves at yet another Sunday — the Day of the Sun.
And today, we arrive at the final Minor Arcana card associated with the Sun’s journey through the zodiac.
Now, while Capricorn is not the last sign of the zodiac, it carries a strange duality: it is said to be the Grandfather of the Zodiac, because it closes out the year…
and yet, also the Child of the Zodiac, because it begins the year that follows.
So today, we’re exploring the Sun — the source of vitality, ruler of fixed fire sign Leo — in the cardinal earth sign Capricorn, ruled by steadfast Saturn.
And in the Tarot, this solar placement corresponds to the Four of Disks.
Sun in Capricorn – The Self-Made Archetype
4 of Disks Point: A smart move/strategy may bring an opportunity for a new home.
Sun in Capricorn carries an innate ability — almost a birthright — to make themselves.
Self-made. Self-built. Self-forged.
This isn’t a learned behaviour.
This is in their bones.
A powerful work ethic pulses through them, paired with razor-sharp ambitions.
The bar is always set high — often too high — yet they climb all the same.
It’s no surprise that workaholism is common with this placement.
Not out of obsession…
but out of purpose.
They care about their legacy, their stability, and the future of those they love.
If anyone embodies the phrase “I’ll get it done”, it is Sun in Capricorn.
The Four of Discs – Security, Structure & Scarcity
Four of Disks Point: A greedy person in your midst may be taking credit for work you have done.
In Tarot, the Four of Discs represents structure, boundaries, discipline —
and yes, sometimes the urge to hold on too tightly.
This mirrors Capricorn’s tendency to be cautious with money.
To others, this can come across as penny-pinching or controlling,
but to Capricorn, it is simply prudence.
They build.
They protect what they build.
They do not gamble what took years to earn.
The Devil’s Influence
4 of Disks Point: Keep controlling nature in check with respect to relationships.Possessiveness and wickedness grow from an unevolved Sun in Capricorn.
Now, a quick nod to the Major Arcana card that rules Capricorn:
The Devil.
The Devil represents temptation, attachment, and the chains we volunteer to wear.
For the Sun in Capricorn, this can manifest as:
If the Devil takes hold, financial resources may be funneled into their vice — a shadow expression of the Four of Discs.
But more often, the workaholic nature is simply a means of survival, of preparation, of building something lasting.
The Stoic Mask & Saturn’s Humor
4 of Disks Point: Achievement of financial goals, or, conversely – a recent loss of money.
Sun-in-Capricorn people often hide their emotions behind a stone façade.
They can appear cold, detached, or even heartless.
But this is not the truth.
They feel deeply — they just protect deeply.
Their emotions live behind a fortress built over years of expectation and responsibility.
And let’s not forget Saturn’s trademark:
a dark, dry, unforgettable sense of humor.
Those who appreciate it will never forget it.
Their Achilles heel?
Lack of self-confidence.
Despite their achievements, they rarely feel they’ve done enough.
And because the bar is set sky-high — unreachable — disappointment becomes a familiar companion, both toward themselves and others.
The Winter Sign – Sensitivity & Resilience
4 of Disks Point: Resistance to change, fear of loss.
Capricorn is a winter sign.
It is not uncommon for Sun-in-Capricorn individuals to have a literal sensitivity to sunlight…
…but their temperament is anything but delicate.
They have thick skin, sturdy edges, and a resilience that is unmatched.
Even with fragile self-esteem, they endure.
They push forward.
Always.
They are the mountain goat — climbing because it is all they know.
But even a mountain goat needs rest.
The Reminder
4 of Disks Point: Sharing is not weakness, a reminder to not be greedy or miserly.
An important reminder for anyone with Sun in Capricorn:
You do not need to earn your right to rest.
You do not need to reach a mythical level of achievement to be worthy of satisfaction.
And pushing yourself to meet a bar set too high will not always bring fruition…
…but caring for yourself will.
Keeping the needs and opinions of loved ones in mind —
nurturing the emotional structures rather than only the material ones —
will always lead to greater fulfillment.
The Sun illuminates.
Saturn structures.
And the Four of Discs invites balance between the two.
Thank you for joining me for this Sunday edition of Mystic Maps.
As the Sun glows gently over Capricorn’s icy peaks, remember:
security is built step by step,
but life is lived moment by moment.
Until next Sunday — stay grounded, stay aware, and keep your inner flame burning.
